Cero (
Description
The practitioner fires a powerful blast of concentrated spiritual energy at the target. While in most cases it is fired from the mouth, some Arrancar and Visored can fire Cero from their hands, fingers, and other parts of their bodies. This often requires the user to take on a specific pose, with Coyote Starrk being the only known exception.[1]
The power, force, speed, and blast area of the Cero is dependent on the strength, spiritual power, and sometimes skill of the user (i.e., the stronger the user, the stronger the attack), and there are some Arrancar who have come up with their own variation of Cero. The charging and firing time for Cero varies greatly, from charging relatively fast to firing it to instantaneously firing one without much charging.
Cero Color Variations
Most Cero are a red color when used by Hollows, Visored or Arrancar. While most Cero are commonly red/crimson, several Arrancar have shown various colors.

Appearances in Other Media
- In Bleach: The DiamondDust Rebellion, when Yin and Yang were transformed into empowered Hollow forms by the power of the Ōin, they could fire off unique Cero completely composed of their respective elements of electricity and fire instead of spiritual energy. They could also fire smaller versions of such Cero at a much more rapid rate.[2]
- In the movie Bleach: The Hell Verse, Zangetsu (while possessing Ichigo in his second Hollow form), unleashes an enormous concentrated Cero that is strong enough to destroy the chains which bind the Togabito to Hell and damage the Gates of Hell. In Bleach: Soul Resurrección, this version of Cero is called Cero Gigante.
Trivia
- While the manga does not state what Ginjō's Energy Beam attack in chapter 476 is, the anime explicitly depicts it as a Cero, including using corresponding sound effects.[3][4]
- In the anime, when the wolves created via Camarada explode, they make the same sounds as a discharged Cero;[5] despite Starrk's explanation that these wolves are not Ceros.[6][5]
- Sousuke Aizen's Fragor technique from his final Hōgyoku fusion[7] is similar in appearance and function to a Cero.
- In BLEACH Rebirth of Souls, a fully Hollowfied Ichigo's combo of cleaving through Ulquiorra Cifer's shoulder and torso using Tensa Zangetsu, knocking and pining him down on the ground with his foot and finishing him off by firing a Cero downwards at point-blank range[8] is known as Cero Apocalpsis.
